Problem with philips cd Player

Hi ALL. Just purchased some new cds for my hifi.But when i played them they started to skip.So i got my cd laser lens cleaner and put some fluid in the cd cleaner. But after all this a message comes up saying NO DISC even do there is a disc in .Can this problem be solved.THANKS

Sounds like your laser mech is faulty and needs replacement, dont know of anyone in Cork I'm afraid, I never had much luck with that lens cleaner and I think in part it degrades the lens

I have fixed multiple CD players which have started to skip. The problem is dust contaminating the lubricant of the pars that position the laser assembly. The fix involves removing all the old grease and applying fresh grease.

Thanks for the replies this is now my third hifi that i have a problem with the lazer as it is located in the bedroom this is where the dust comes from.
