    Hi,

will a ps3 work with an LCD that only supports hdmi 1.1? I'm thinking of getting a ps3 but am concerned about whether my tv can support the hdmi or not. I remember having issues with an xbox which has hdmi 1.2 and using it with my TV. Since PS3 is hdmi 1.3 I think the same problem might appear. Anyone got any info on this.

    Thanks.

What issues were you experiencing? I run my ps3 through a HDMI 1.1 AVP for audio (passthrough video) to a 1.3 display with no ill effect.

AFAIK the main "benefit" or upgrade of 1.3 over 1.1/2 was bit-streaming HD Audio (as opposed to discrete LPCM channels) and Lip Sync Negotiation between source and sink.

Never bothered me as I prefer source decoded LPCM and can adjust lip sync delay in the AVP.

Thanks for the reply neried. I simply couldn't use the hdmi at all. Screen would be blank and I think the TV said no signal. Doesn't really bother me that I won't get the 1.3 features I just want to be able to use the thing. My setup would be a little different to yours though. I can't remember what the cable was rated but the TV is defo 1.1

Did it ever work with HDMI? You could try the hold the power button down at startup to reset the video output. That should force it to look for the HDMI.

If that doesn't work, verify 1) that you can see a picture using the composite (yellow) lead that came with the ps3 on your tv, and 2) if you can try the ps3 on some other tv with the HDMI lead to see if either of these can be verified to be broken.

Na, sold the XBox before I could get it to work. I know it worked on another TV that had 1.2 HDMI before I sold it but that wasn't mine.
