    Notised myself.

So, not all timeshift channels were moved, but only More4+1 and G.O.L.D.+1... How that makes sense will be a mystery, but I guess they must have an Einstein working in the channel listings department looking into it as we write

Oh, maybe getting us Smile+1 and/or Buzz+1

Great, now I have to notice Smile / Buzz TV exist before finding things I might actually watch...

Hopefully they're freeing up space for some real channels.

Ok just picking at straws so I won't get my hopes up.

Two time shift channels moved up the guide.

The space next to Gold would be perfect for Watch?

The Space next to More 4 would be perfect for Channel Four HD?

Or the rest of the CBS (former Zone) channels?

I always wondered why they all weren't on UPC, considering they share a parent.

Shows you how much you watch the other Digital channels when you don't notice that their names have changed. CBS sounds good pity Zone is/was never very good.

Would not be beyond UPC to place the junk that is Buzz&Smile into those slots.
Once again UPC shows its utter comtempt for its subscribers by shuffling the EPG without any notice.

Bravo continues to be in the 500's wonder will that move...

Well what would you call its customer service ,its treatment of subscribers during the Setanta debacle ,dropping of Nicam, BBC2 reception on the southside, channels dropping ,epg faults etc etc

Not considering their customer service record...

Have picked up ITV 4 all of a sudden on a 2nd 411 (the other has horse racing), any idea what's going on?

Could imagine well see on Tuesday Dec 1st why UPC moved the two time shifters to a different position to free up some space higher up on the EPG...

Contrary to SKY I couldn't imagine the UPC EPG is very valuable so they (UPC) can shuffle around as they please(?)...

    Cheerio

And why Dec 1st? UPC's EPG should be as valuable as Sky Ireland's EPG. ????

Well nothing added today. It's all very strange. Having the +1 channels grouped together made sense for me. It's one of the reason I dislikes the Sky EPG so much, it's all over the place. Not saying the UPC one is perfect (far from). Wonder how long we will have to wait to make sense of this move?

Erh, Sky has 9+ million subscribers and UPC in Ireland has 328,000 digital subscribers. A huge percentage of the channels on the Irish UPC EPG carry UK only adverts - non Irish, so basically worth nothing to the revenue pool geographically segmented so I see your point  You think the EPG is made up what ever way Sky finds it fit?

Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens with new channels joining the EPG. My guess was Dec 1st, Tuesdays (and Thursday) are usual the day that new channels are launched (at least on SKY) so maybe same for UPC. I don't know...

patrickmooney, I actually like having the time shift channels right next to the actual mother channel. Yes, the SKY EPG is a bit of a mess, but this is because EPG placement is like a commodity. Some are very expensive I'm made believe :)

No I was talking about the fact that the Sky EPG in Ireland is different to that of the +8million UK EPGs. And sky have specifically designed an EPG for the Irish audience which excludes (unless you mess around) many of the UK's PBS channels.

The following channels carry Irish adverts on both Sky and UPCs EPGs

    Channel 4
    E4
    E4+1
    Nick
    Nick Jr
    3e
    Setanta Sports 1
    Sky 1
    Sky News
    Setanta Ireland
    Living
    Living +1
    Comedy Central
    Comedy Central +1
    MTV
    Discovery

    Not the majority at all.

    .

Add E! to that list - from December'09
G.O.L.D are/where also due to add Irish adverts

    Are you sure about E4+1 & Living+1 ?

**** Irish TV is dead in the water.

If E! are going to be showing ads from Dec '09, I hazard a guess that it may be soon appearing between More 4 and Gold. :(

Living +1 no they don't, don't know why I put them in that list. I know that TAM Ireland release viewing figures for the +1s so I just assume that the sell advertising.

+1 channel's dont carry Irish adverts. It's nice to watch the u.k. ad's for a change and not the same Meteor ad yet again.

Thanks. It is about 15 channels that are UK based currently selling Irish Advertising.

1st of Dec has been and gone and positions still empty, any ideas now?

unrelated point, anyone know how long it takes from when new wires go up outside to the services actually being available??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Delta2113

They could do worse than add on RTE News Now. Probably be E +1, +2 knowing our luck. Maybe smile2 anyone?

Why move them if they werent going to add anything for so long, giving us false hope!

Its UPC ! they had LFC TV on black screen for 2+ months with their sales reps saying it was part of the Setanta pack....

Some one had picked up ITV2 and ITV3 on a stream but don't know if this is going to be the channels offered.

Besides, ITV2 and ITV3 are not that interesting and what a surprise that UPC brings on channels that are FTA on Sat, which we pay for on cable through our subscription...

    I'm giving up on UPC!

can anyone confirm any of the new channels & if they are definitely going to be added? i think they should add more hd channels in order to try push their hd service. why not add ch4 hd, fx hd, mtvn hd, living hd etc to their hd channel listing, adding some more to the basic line up?

Why should they when there is not even a 100% coverage of HD in Dublin as per todays date?

I raised that point in a previous post. But will they actually make it available to most next year like they say? If they do, then why not add more channels?
