    Good article.

    1970's were almost as competitive as the 1980's in terms of strong riders on various teams.

    Kuiper, Zootemelk, Hinault, Merckx, Thevanet, Ocana were all very strong riders.
    Guys like Jan Raas, Roger De Vlaeminck too.

    Merckx though is head and shoulders above all riders throughout the history of the sport.

    Hus record is simply remarkable - and he raced the entire season too.
