My first though was doing it via Bluetooth PAN, but according to this it's not currently an option.

If you have a computer that is WIFI enabled, then it is possible.

You connect your computer to the internet as normal. You then create an ad-hoc network with your computer over wireless. You should then be able to connect to this WIFI network with your Touch.

    Have fun.

You *could* put your mobile broadband SIM card in the iphone and configure the appropriate APN and the like. It should work then but you won't have any phone service as mobile broadband sims usually don't come with any. And if you configure the wrong APN name you may find yourself getting reamed for data charges.

But he was asking about the iPod touch.

This is the best way to do it; works perfectly.

No, no, no, you cannot do this. There is no slot for a SIM in an *iPod touch* otherwise it would be an iPhone! :-)

All you do is connect your mobile broadband to your MacBook Pro and ensure that Airport is turned on. Then go to system preferences/sharing and tick the Internet sharing box. This will share your 3G connection by wifi and you log onto that (typically this new network will be the name of your MacBook pro) from your iPod touch. if you have other peripherals like a PSP, N95, PS3 etc., then they too can join your new and personal wi-fi network.

I have my USB stick attached to my Dovado Wireless Router which allows me to connect my ipod touch to my wireless networK

Would this be of use or do you want it on the go ?

Yep, that works in the house. On-the-go, you need to create an adhoc net using your MacBook or else an N95 with JoikuSpot Light.
