Hello im a first year in DCU and am inquiring about athletics in DCU. Just wondering what the standards like I presume from what I have heard its very good and wountnt be too far behind the likes of UCD, UL etc with a large sprint and field events group thats probably the best in Ireland. But im a distance athlete and there seems to be little interest in cross country in the college. Is there any distance group that trains or would I have to go to a club in north dublin. Cheers

There is a huge interest in cross country, in my experience at least. Fionnuala Britton and a number of others whose names escape me right now, went to DCU and thrived. They generally have a very strong distance running team.

Your best bet is to get in touch with the athletics club directly. They won't chase you. They'll have the most info on training times/groups etc.
