    What? Spike Milligan? Dave Allen?

Spike be an Anglo Indian, and will long be remembered for his Paddy the Irish man jokes Not

Heckling a comedian isn't cool (should have said that earlier on).

I was the Ha'penny Bridge Inn one night and there was a girl in the corner who basically heckled or mocked just about every act, so of whom were clearly up performing for the first time and they were really put off their stride by her. Turns out she was one of the acts and was up towards the end. Needless to say she was booed off. That was the exception to the rule.

    G'wan - name her.

    Sean Hughes

    Middle-aged Irish Standup.
Youngest (?) comedian to win the Perrier award.
Used to be big back in the day (mid-90s) before Dylan Moran, Tommy Tiernan and the like came on the scene.
    Former team captain in NMTB.
    Less hip/relevant nowadays.
Many people here will probably say "he's ****" which is unfair.

I think they may have a point.

SH was in my mate's class in school so I was more than happy to have my gut feelings (that he is an annoying cunt) confirmed.

That said, I hate OTT heckling.

You are correct in your assumption, I too sat through classes with him. And his accent is fcuked up, he is from Firhouse in Dublin:rolleyes:

Our Sean seems to be attracting hecklers lately, two drunk northern girls were at it at the Electric Picnic this year. Didn't ruin the gig though.

I liked his books, but saw him for the first time in years last year and I was so disappointed. He kept going on about not having a girlfriend and being old. The only time I laughed was when he was talking about the tsunami of 2006. He happened to be staying at a hotel in Thailand when it hit, manager told all guests to go upstairs because there was a tsunami coming. 'Ooh great, dessert!' was Seán's response

    It's making me laugh again.:o

Hack I was there too. First time seeing Mr Hughes live, and the Heckler did kinda ruin the night tbh.
The warm up act was excellent (Jarlath Regan sp?) and the first 45 mins of SH was very good, but then his material stopped being relevant, and tbh I thought "Jesus, you are actually too old to be doing this!" .

As for the heckler, the first couple of times SH was able to counter it, but when it continued the audience seemed bored waiting for SH to go to town on him, but it never happened.

Sean Hughes is like a sober Dylan Moran...i.e., unfunny.

He moved there from England via Santry, so his accent is about right i'd say.

Irelands great comedians always seem to begin with 'D'.

Dave Allen .... Dylan Moran .... Dara O'Briain. No wait, that doesn't work.

I know that at one of his gigs in England that only about 10 people showed up and he brought them all to the bar and did the show there after buying them free drink!
