I never turn mine off plus it can't display a welcome message anyway. However before I gave my mother a phone for her birthday last year I changed the welcome message to "This phone has been reported stolen." Bless her she's not very technically minded so I got a clip around the ear and a bollic*ing for giving her a "stolen" phone. :rolleyes:

I have to press my thumb over the speaker to muffle it every time... so sick of hearing it.
Might actually change network if they're still doing this.

Mine used to be "Bomb activated" but I realised when turning it back on while in an airport that it mightn't be funny any more.

I'm now totally cool and retro by having no startup message.
