Cassette tape to CD - Dominic Behan album

A friend has given me an ancient cassette tape of Dominic Behan songs - from a long-ago vinyl LP on Topic called something like Songs of Revolution, which seems to be completely unobtainable.

I do have a cassette player, but would love to transfer the songs onto a CD. Does anyone out there have the ability to do this?

This may be more of a question for 'music' rather than the trad forum. I can move it if you like?

Thank you, Suaimhneach, I wasn't sure where to put it. That would be kind of you.

Luckat, The fact that you have access to a PC\Laptop (you're part of this forum after all..) means you're more than half way there.

The above link should detail some of, or all of the process to you.

I have the lead they mention, if you want a lend, you're free to take it off me for as long as it takes, just post it back at some point.

Hmm, Amalgam. My tape deck is an aged Walkman and my computer is a MacBook; I don't know that this good advice is going to work for me. But I'll see if I can seat-of-the-pants it.

Macbook has a line in, as far as I know.. and recording from a Walkman isn't an issue, you just use a different kind of lead.

    I suggest browsing this thread:

Audacity exists for the Mac. Browse here for versions:

    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/

Mac forums mention software called Audio Hijack also, in line with doing what you want.

It functions for 15 days, 'Free'. Then cripples itself somewhat.
