Raikkonen - McLaren : Only the signature is missing

    http://www.tomorrownewsf1.com/f1-raikkonen-mclaren-reste-la-signature-8913

Between truths, revelations and other contradictions, all ingredients have helped to maintain the suspense. But we can announce it today: Kimi Raikkonen will definately go to McLaren in 2010.

A mutual agreement exists between both parties and its only missing the 2007 world champions signature, which will not take long now. There have been numerous mishaps and stumble blocks. But compromises have been made on both sides by McLaren and Kimi Raikkonen-Robertson.

Kimi will not take a sabbatical year like announced here earlier, and there will be no more playing games to keep the suspense (thanks to Mr Robertson). Kimi Raikkonen will definately be the second driver at McLaren in 2010 and 2011.

There is rumours that the contract will be for 3 million plus 200 000 per point and 1 million per win.

Thats pretty sweet deal. Considering how many points he got this year with such a dog of a car...

Of this partnership comes true, it will be reason enough to watch every second of next years championship

Bit early to start the opinions over who will win this one ;)

Unless he wins almost every race it's a substantial pay cut.

In other words he'll be on almost what he's on now, isn't that right vectra? ;)

    Theoretically yes.
    BUT
If you include the €25 million payoff from Ferrari he could exceed this years salary :D

    Roll on next season..

Yeah but he was hardly going to get a pre-recession deal matched was he?

It should be the way all drivers are paid. Lower base salary and huge bonuses for points and wins, should liven it up a bit

    More news has emerged.
if Kimi takes a sabatical for 2010 Ferrari pays them €17 million (not 25 as I thought)

If he drives for another team he gets only €10 Million
    So
McLaren jump on the bandwagon and offer him €5 mil on top of Ferraris €10 = €15
    Hmm..
Hope he takes McLarens offer :(

He is far too motivated by money, would like to see him race next year, but i cant see him doing too well in McLaren although i would love to see him beat Lewis

Well that would be 15 Plus extras
200k per point and 1 mil per win
so for a win he would get
    10 points x 200k = 2 mil
Plus the 1 mil for winning = 3 mil
Plus his salary = 18 mil in total
That is just for one win ..
Enough motivation for anyone there I would imagine

Why do you say he is too motivated by money? He looked to get out McLaren and sign for Ferrari because at the time McLaren couldn't offer him a car to challenge for the title due to reliability issues and not because Ferrari offered him big money

I'd be very nervous if I was a second ahead of Kimi next year with 3 laps to go

If he does take this "sabbatical" then I wouldnt expect to see him in F1 again either.

So he could potentially earn more sitting on his ass at home than if he took the McLaren seat?

    Yes.
Thats if he only sat and didnt bother getting any points.
    But
each point he gains will get him an extra €200,000
Each win gives him an extra €1,000,000
    Plus the €2,000,000 for 10 points = €3,000,000

So I dont think he will just sit on his Ass.

3 million for a win, 1.6million for second. He is not going to throw away the 1.6m either with a mad move near the end of a race, is he?

    True enough.

    It's dragging on a bit isn't it?

Wonder are they talking to Heidfeld

First Rosberg seemed signed to McLaren, now theres talk of him at Brawn next year.. Heidfeld is a possibility but i'd reckon Mclaren want a proven racewinner to boost their constructors title hopes...

McLaren might be waiting to see will Brawn make a balls of the contract negotiations with Button. I reckon the new regime at McLaren would rather have number 1 on the car.

I would say the deal is done there just waiting to announce it, I reckon the McLaren regime would like to win a title and then put 1 on their car. :D

True but I think they rate Hamilton a lot higher than anyone else including Raikkonen. Button could come cheaper with the coveted number 1 sticker.

    Just a thought

Very true, Brawns offer of about 6 million doesn't seem to be tempting Jenson. McLaren have the resources to offer at least double that. Could see Heidfeld and Rosberg at Brawn then..

Button visited Woking yesterday which is probably just for the purposes of putting with rush on both Kimi and Brawn

    Hate to say this, but.

Jensen Button and his Manger were guests of McLaren at the Woking establishment, had a guided tour on Thursday 12th November 2009

Rumour has it that Kimi has priced himself out of the market.

Kimi wants freedom to Ice race and Rally, McLaren do not want the risk of an injured driver.

I would say Jenson was a guest of Mercedes :D

Pity Norbert wasn't there then, and Martin had to show them round...

I wouldn't be too worried about that theatrical piece brought to us by McLaren staring Jenson.

Its not about the money he just wants to feel wanted - err No :o
