If you order lamb, they shouldn't serve you greyhound and attempt to pass it off as lamb. That's completely deceitful.

Yeah, I hate when people try pull a fast one on ewe

I reckon I would try it alright.

I'm not an animal person at all. I don't think, "Awh, dogs are so cute" and I broke my elbow and dislocated my shoulder after a fall from a horse so I'm not majorly keen on them anymore either, so yup, I'd eat any of 'em!

I could definitely have a pig as a companion animal

George Clooney had a pet pig. It's one of the only things I know about him. He did this huge spread in a magazine a few years ago. It was basically just a series of photos of him and this gigantic hog.

Pigs are definitely intelligent creatures - I mean, look at Babe... that pig could talk and everything! ;)

If I still ate meat I would have no problem eating any, be it dog or human. All or none for me. No difference between a dog and sheep in this scenario.

Surely you have SOMETHING in your fridge to prevent that from happening...

Dog, cat, horse, guinea pig or another animal that Western society looks down on eating?

I've had dogs all my life, and I've had a cat or two, and I've got a guinea pig who I love to bits right now. I love horses and have worked with them since I was 7. That said, if any of them were prepared and presented for me to eat, I reckon I'd give it a try (and have tried horse)-- it's a bit hypocritical not to, imo, just because we see cows, pigs, sheep etc as food doesn't mean all cultures do and doesn't mean they're any less than pets or horses.

So, would you take a chance at eating Fido?

Western society? Horse is eaten all over Europe and swans are eaten in some places too ;)

I'd give most meat a go alright.

I got a bit of a taste for spicey horse burgers when I was in Slovenia.

+1 I was given canine teeth for a reason. :)

I've eaten a lot of different types of meat. Never domestic pets though, that'd be strange. If I was really starving I'd give "roof-rabbit" a go. Anything that cute has to be tasty. :D

No I wouldn't eat any of them. I'd love to see you all eat an animal after watching it being killed, it would throw some off I'd imagine.

I would. I'd eat a dead human before killing and eating a live dog too.

In fact, depending on the human I'd probably eat them if they were alive before eating the live dog :P

I've had horse one or two times, it was quite nice and I like horses as animals but I was away and the first time I ordered it I had no idea what it was. After I found out I felt a bit wierd but had no problem ordering it again. It was rather tasty. I love my meat so would be willing to give just about anything a go, but not so sure about a cat or dog for some reason, maybe I'd have to be in a situation that called for me making a choice.

As for swans I would have no problem eating them, they are just mean birds and I would feel like I was getting my own back on the nasty **** who chased me up the canel once. That scared me for life!!

    I'll eat any animal.

No qualms about cuteness. If I need to eat and something's being cooked then when it's done, I'm chowing down.

    Little cute fluffy rabbit? Nyom!
That oh so adorable little puppy? Pass the ketchup!
Bambi's Mother? Shoot her again and roast her on a spit!

Meat is murder. Tasty, tasty murder!

If it doesn't make me ill, tastes nice and is legal: game on.

That said, I just couldn't eat alligator before when offered. Just the thought of it repulsed me.

No couldn't do it,and will avoid at all costs :D

I'd probably stop short of chimp meat. Not far short, but that'd be my grey zone.

Dog?... No absolutely not. They're known as man's best friend throughout most of the world bar the odd few countries who somehow decided they'd like to eat them. And the horror stories I have heard about how dogs in some countries destined for the dinner table are treated and ultimately butchered in the most gruesome, heartless methods just sickens me.

Surely you'd have second thoughts about trying dog meat if you knew there was a good chance (especially if in China) that that dog spent the last few hours of it's life hung from a ceiling with a meat hook through it's jaw while still alive..

I'm not a vegetarian, but I am completely against animal cruelty and would never support it.

Naw, I don't think so - Hell, I'll kill it, gut it and prepare it. :)

I've eaten guinea pig before when I was in Bolivia two years ago. Wasn't the best tbh. Quite fatty. It still had its head, teeth, eyes and everything on it which was kinda off putting, but I'm glad I tried it as its a local delicacy.

Don't want turn this into a "morality of eating meat" thread, I just want to point out the irony in what you just said.

I'd eat pretty much any animal, especially if I was hungry enough.

For me, the problem would be which part of the animal...I cannot eat tripe.

Horse is lovely, so is rabbit, I like snails if they are in a nice sauce, oysters are grand, I've eaten eel, and frogs legs (they taste grand but a lot of hassle for not much return).

It's all cultural anyway. I love a nice crispy rasher but that idea would prob make a Muslim sick.
