There should be a third option for "Dundalk". Voting "outside Dublin" isn't adequate enough to express the sheer joy one feels when letting the world know you are a Dundalkonian.

It's more than just a place. It's a state of mind. Come jump on Pighead's back and we shall experience Dundalk together.

Don't really think you're the type of person we want in our town anyway. Vulgarity may be cool in Dublin but in Dundalk we pride ourselves in expressing ourselves with eloquence and good manners.

I think you'll find that some of the most fervent anti-jackeen sentiment comes from bog-natives unwillingly resident in the capital; such is the plight of the displaced countryman, exiled up to Dublin to join the "service" or to further their new non-farming career in some other way; condemned to live out middle-youth in the bed-sits and drinking dens of Ranelagh town, forced into uneasy alliance with the scumbags, who are themselves exiles in their own metropolis. Such is the sad plight of the latter farming generations; their ancestors swallowed, digested and shat out the very soil till it bore crop that they may feed the little mouths of Eireann, but in vain it all was.

In 2006 1,661,185 people lived in the greater Dublin area out of a total Irish population of 4,239,848 i.e about 39%. All things being equal this is the proportion of boards users that are from greater Dublin.

This is offset by at least two things:
    1) 33% of the country is not covered by broadband (yes I know dial up exists)
    2) Posters not living in Ireland or being Irish

Which I'm going to hazard a guess may cancel each other out, maybe ....

i dont see how this thread can go anywhere, its pure logic..1 million living in dublin, 3.5 million outside dublin so the end result (if everyone votes) should be around 28.5% to 71.5%.

i mean, what are the odds EVERYONE will be from dublin on this?!

dublin should be the overwhelming minority

that greater dublin included wicklow, kildare, louth meath and a couple more, according to the last census (2006) dublin city and county had a population of 1,187,176 as the heading said its only dublin..not half of leinster so ratio is around 28.5% to 71.5%
