There should be a third option for "Dundalk". Voting "outside Dublin" isn't adequate enough to express the sheer joy one feels when letting the world know you are a Dundalkonian.

Don't really think you're the type of person we want in our town anyway. Vulgarity may be cool in Dublin but in Dundalk we pride ourselves in expressing ourselves with eloquence and good manners.

How does one go about spoiling a vote in a stupid boards poll?

I think you'll find that some of the most fervent anti-jackeen sentiment comes from bog-natives unwillingly resident in the capital; such is the plight of the displaced countryman, exiled up to Dublin to join the "service" or to further their new non-farming career in some other way; condemned to live out middle-youth in the bed-sits and drinking dens of Ranelagh town, forced into uneasy alliance with the scumbags, who are themselves exiles in their own metropolis. Such is the sad plight of the latter farming generations; their ancestors swallowed, digested and shat out the very soil till it bore crop that they may feed the little mouths of Eireann, but in vain it all was.

In 2006 1,661,185 people lived in the greater Dublin area out of a total Irish population of 4,239,848 i.e about 39%. All things being equal this is the proportion of boards users that are from greater Dublin.

This is offset by at least two things:
    1) 33% of the country is not covered by broadband (yes I know dial up exists)
    2) Posters not living in Ireland or being Irish

Which I'm going to hazard a guess may cancel each other out, maybe ....

i dont see how this thread can go anywhere, its pure logic..1 million living in dublin, 3.5 million outside dublin so the end result (if everyone votes) should be around 28.5% to 71.5%.

i mean, what are the odds EVERYONE will be from dublin on this?!

dublin should be the overwhelming minority

that greater dublin included wicklow, kildare, louth meath and a couple more, according to the last census (2006) dublin city and county had a population of 1,187,176 as the heading said its only dublin..not half of leinster so ratio is around 28.5% to 71.5%

Dublin has 1/3 of the population so it's no wonder most of the threads are about the capital.

Think you'll find the % of people who live in/outside dublin to be, ehh... a fcucking hundred percent, op.

You either live IN Dublin, or OUTSIDE of Dublin. Pretty simple tbh.

How many people here are named David, OR!!! ... aren't named David?

Can't you see it?! ^ Being a bit long winded, the OP decided to call it the 'Pot / Kettle' option.

    What's with all the Dundalk-hating?

All us Dundalkonians have met, and a large amount of you have gone onto our blacklist!

Be very careful - we will throw rocks through your windows, slash your tyres, put fireworks through your letterbox and spoil the ending of Harry Potter

I'm a potato munching bogger who lives outside the Republic Of Dublin where only the richest of farmers can afford one of these things you call "The Internets"

I've no affiliation with farming which concludes I live in the internet

Though the fashion that people wear nowadays in the cities I find hilarious, like a bastard hybrid of the 80's and GHD. Trying too hard to stand out.

The thread is flawed. It is asking if you are a jackeen or a dub by asking where you live. Its a bad way of compareing. It would be easier to say where were you BORN

In Dublin ( Hence a jackeen)
Outside Dublin ( Hence a culchie)

More dubs now live in cavan than cavan people i would say! But using the thread voteing they would be considered culchies! The culchies in my village told me i would never be one of them which by my logic is fine! You would need to see the person that said this to realise
