    Hi all,
im going to New York at the end of this month and im hoping to pick up a PSP3000. Is this a good idea, will I be able to play Irish games on it when I bring it home or would there be any other draw backs to buying it in the States. It's for a Christmas present.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

While the price is good, the 120GB is supposed to be $300 over there and the 250GB is €349, the problems with it are just not worth the hassle...

The US uses 120v/50hz while EU uses 240/60hz. You will need a voltage converter may cost you around 100 euros. Your TV needs to be able to accept an NTSC signal. EU has Pal/Secam. It won't play European Region 2 DVD's or Blu Ray discs. You may also get stung for customs duty on it when you arrive back in Ireland.

Most confused poster of the year?

How PSP 3000 becomes PS3 is lost on me...

Anyway, buying in America will cause issues as listed above (charging etc.) but nothing too taxing. UMD games are not region locked, but UMD movies are. You shouldn't have any issues with the PS Store either.
