    Hi all,

Flying to Bratislava with the missus tomorrow morning, just wondering what's Ryanairs policy with Gym bags being taken as hand luggage, it would be a standard size gear bag but would only have about 6-7kg in weight and I'm allowed 10kg. I see people bringing mini suitcases no problem, anyone know if the gym bag will be ok because I've no need to check in a big bag for 30 euro!

As long as the bag is less than 55x40x20cm it's fine. I always use a holdall, they're great for squashing into tight spots in the overhead bin

I fly back and forth to England all the time and have only seen the 'luggage sizer' wheeled out and actually used on a few occassions. When it is wheeled out they can catch a lot of people at €35 a bag. Don't bring a bag that the contents can shift in as they won't allow you reorganise it to make the bag fit.

I use Conair a lot and the way they apply this rule is very hit and miss. I've seen small cases stopped because they are a bit too wide yet sausage bags usually sail through.

A bag I recently brought to France was fine in Dublin airport but was refused on the way back.
