Okay what size reels do most movies come on? I'm getting mixed results on my internet research. Though I'm leaning towards purchasing a 16mm projector.

and...from where in gods name does one source movie reels for public broadcast? Seriously I'm not coming here looking for quick answers I've been weeks trying to find this stuff out!

Any help would be very much appreciated!

I'd imagine movie reels are pretty expensive alright.

Most are 35mm, 70mm hasnt been widely used in years, I think Branaghs Hamlet was the last 70mm movie but I could be wrong. They are hard to come by unless you know any collectors, and expensive to boot

I'd imagine a digital projector would be a better purchase nowadays. What do you need it for?

35mm is standard for major productions.

though there is a slow process of moving over to digital at the moment

16mm is still used but mostly by independents and art films and a number of (much) older films can be purchased in 16mm.

There wouldnt be much of a market for individuals to buy and sell 35mm film reels as cinemas and studios tend to hold onto them. Not to mention the projectors are quite expensive and high maintenance

But there is somewhat a market for 16mm film, as a number of low budget cult classics would have been filmed on 16mm. The projectors here are cheaper and more portable.
