Got a Freesat box for my father (cheers to Tony at Satellite.ie - very quick despatch and arrived quickly too).

Went up to their house yesterday to figure out how I'd wire it this weekend.. turns out I didn't have enough wire for it.

But he has Sky+ and I was thinking he'll never use the second feed (e.g for recording while watching another program - I don't think he's even aware how to pause, never mind record) so I took the connection from that, brought it through the wall (hole there already) and wired up the Freesat - all working fine!

It shouldn't cause any problems down the line... I don't think it will but just to confirm.

    shouldnt cause a problem,
but will he be able to work out how to switch between sky and freesat?
(if he cant do the recording thing.)

    Nah, it's fine.

As the Freesat is for use in the kitchen, whereas the Sky is in the sitting-room.

Cheaper and makes more sense than multi-room (although we have a video sender for Sky in the kitchen, but my mother is sick of having to watch Sky Sports 24/7! :D).

    ah that explains it so.
i was thinking having a sky and freesat box on 1 tv would be a little odd.

    :D
