let it be the worst because you couldnt mosh. we were in the pit and there was lots of moshing that wasnt stopped.
you have to remember there were a lot of kids there too....
the security has been stepped up since the re opening of the point which is not surprising. i was looking and they were only pulling out those who were drunk off their faces or making a lot of bother for those around them.

what about Green Day? moshing is fun but the rest of the gig couldnt have been that bad?

    AWESOME

No as I said it was good - I am just picking one of the one negative element. I love Green Day and I suppose I am comparing the concert to previous high standards.

Why has the security been steeped up and why is it not surprising?

There were no kids where I was and nobody was getting hurt. The people who got thrown out were not drunk (I drove there and back from Galway so I wasn't either!).

People were getting more hurt getting thrown out or from others being thrown out! I just thought it was way over the top and thought I would log this for others thinking of heading to O2.

Trust me I am not a header and was not looking to go psycho but I felt sorry for ppl who had paid to get in only to find themselves outside by 9 o'clock.

Yeah actually.security was wayy too strict.
I mean even grabbing those glowsticks off anyone who had pocession of one....and taking flags/making people put them away (this was like front, right of the catwalk) when people were displaying them and billie wasn't on the catwalk.

Totally awesome night still tho xD

Security was tough alright but many where throwing the glow sticks around the place and lost of teenagers drunk causing a little hassle for the youner fans with there folks.
No harm im sure but maybe thats why they were taken off them.

If any people have more pics please post.(seating areas)

    thanks

if you knew what the point was before it was more laxy dazy people lobbing glo sticks etc dancing around like maniacs and stuff. Also getting into the pit was a lot easier!! now since the place has been done up they have beefed up the security and standards. and its not surprising they were so strict as Green Day are a huge huge group. I do feel its mostly as there were an awful load of kids maybe not around you but they were everywhere else and a certain amount of safety is needed. plus the amount of people collapsing was crazy!!!!

Anyway back to the point they were amazing!!!!
and please post pics i will put up mine soon!!

But still...seemed a bit too strict...
I mean "no glo sticks" just cos they could be thrown? At a gig where the band playing is famous for starting a huge mud fight once, etc? Makes no sense.
Makes me wonder.....does the o2 send bands such as green day a list of all those silly things which are disallowed there?
How far could they extend such a list....no jumping/moving, or even no singing along in future?
    It's mindboggling...

if they threw a big glow stick and smacked billie joe in the face it'd be a different story. its just the way some people behave and they dont want them ruining it for others really.
I dont work for them so i dont know really!!

didnt even interrupt my night i had my fun. Just have your own fun ignore what they are doing and have the buzz!!!!!!

great show. walked in the door at 7.55 and got two wristbands for the pit straight away. right up the front. got a couple of plectrums and drumsticks at the end.

I kinda like Green Day but I'm not a huge fan. Anyway, I was asked to go to this gig (with the lure of a free ticket!) and I have to say they were excellent live. The stage show they put on was fantastic, and they definitely knew how to work the crowd. Security was strict but I didn't mind so much - some obnoxious ****er behind me was completely pissed off his head, probably didn't have a clue where he was and kept roaring at nothing in particular. I was delighted when security came and shifted him.

    there was a pit???

we got in at 7.30pm and at best you could get half way through the crowd on the floor before there was just a wall of people and we tried every side of the venue, and wtf with so many stupidly tall guys at concerts in o2, where the hell do they be hiding rest of the time

really good gig. not too up to date with the newer songs (still class) but the older songs they played i loved. never gotten round to seeing them before even though i was listening constantly to them non-stop when i was in school (pre 96). bringing people on stage to join in with songs, what a way to give someone a night to remember!!

anyone (maybe 90%) who got grief from security at the gig where acting the fool....it says you cant mosh / stage dive ON THE TICKETS...i am hardcore green day and have been since before alot of the crowd was born. i bounced around and rocked out all the way through the whole night.....i even HELPED security throw a couple of drunk kids out...and would do it again...alot of the people showed up hammered and where just there to cause trouble, those people deserve to be kicked out...

Your attitude suggests to me that you are the type that acts like an idiot.

    Revenge? Oh please

Moshing/jumping - causes fights, people who don't want to mosh are caught up in it, people hurt etc etc. (dont agree with this one, if people want to mosh, let them. if they don't, move to the sides or back).

It depends where you are in the crowd, I have/would again physically stopped someone starting a pit beside me. I'd be typically in the front 10 or so rows at a gig and a circle pit will end up hurting someone.

Oxygen was horrendous for this, some group of fúckers would push past everyone to get up to the front, and try and start a pit within the pocket of the crowd who queued/waited around to get there.

If bands I like do underage gigs, I genuinely think twice about going to see them, the crowd are just too fúcking annoying :)

Seriously amazing concert, best I've ever been to! Was in Section G, sitting about 8 rows from the front and the view was fantastic. A couple of security guards made us all sit down during Hitchin' a Ride which I wasn't too impressed about but we all stood back up soon after :pac:

Have some videos too, if anyone's interested :)
