What can you do? TBH players like Kuyt and Benayoun need to take a good hard look at themselves for folding like they did. These guys are arguably the leaders after Gerrard and Torres yet they seemed inept today. It's not on, they can do much better.

To be honest ive enough of Voronin/Lucas/Babel. Bring in Pacheco next time he wants to bring on a Voronin or Babel. Give the lad a chance.

Preaching to the choir man, I got savaged in this thread for being too short-sighted when I criticised Rafa for signing a replacement for Alonso who'd be out for 3 months. I don't think people really thought about to be honest, I don't they fathomed that we'd be in this situation right now, so I understand why they criticised me.

Seasons are defined at the end, not the beginning.

It's such a shame that the season has got off to a start as one of those seasons where the top teams are having points nicked from them by the likes of Tottenham and Villa, unfortunately it's Liverpool who are benefiting the least (suffering the most) from this.

We were missing our 3 most expensive players today, based on his price tag you simply have to assume that Aquilani by rights should be one of our top 3 players. I hope he lives up to it.

The only thing that will make up for getting 15 points out of 9 games, is to make sure we get 18 points from 10, because we all know what doing that involves.

Come on the pool.

I stand by what I said. Rafa has had 5 years for people to form their opinions of him. Very few people will be changing their position no matter what happened today, or what happens over the next 2 matches.

We are only 7 points behind! Its not the end of the word. We were as far behind at the tail end of last season when everyone thought we still had a chance! Utd lost 4 games last season and still won the league, its not the end of the world providing we start playing well now. Besides, how often are we gonna lose to a balloon?

Its the fact that you cant allow for too many more slip ups with still a lot of the big 4 teams to play.

And saying losing to a balloon is just stupid. Sunderland were easily the better team and fully deserved the win.

The three at the back that Rafa played today is actually ideal for a balloon as it can can float into the space left in behind its marker, or burst through from the wings. I thought the balloon would be too lightweight to escape the attentions off 3 top class defenders, but I was proven wrong on that score. Although it did look totally deflated by the end.

Today summmed up the worst of Liverpool - poor tactics compounded by arrogance from the manager, players picked either not up to the job or lacking heart. No on pitch leadership/headless chicken syndrome. You learn little or nothing when times are good.

Starting without Masch was mad, he was full of beans and could have put in a good 45 mins before being rested for Tuesday. Its far harder to retrive a bad situation (Spearing /Lucas may be the worst Liverpool MF pairing in the modern era) as you use more energy. Even if you rescue the fat from the fire you are left wondering about the managers judgement for starting with a weaker side in the first place.

Our league is over... Even before today.. Our squad aint good enough and d gaffer hasnt a clue what he is doing,, We have never played the liverpool way under him.. Am a liverpool die hard but d league dont lie.. As it stands even city and d gunners could finish higher... Chelsea and united are prob gonna be d only 2 in the end,, Things could get worse b4 they get better,, Am afraid but to honest liverpool fans who know their football today comes as no surprise

The league is going to be won with possibly less points than last year it seems.I wouldn't say it's over because of a few defeats this early.

Saying that, I still feel that we will be contention come the end of the season. Maybe I am deluded but I am not worried for some reason.

I'm not either, IF we beat Man U next week things will look a lot better and the pundits will change their tune, just as they did when we beat Man U at Old Trafford last season.

Look at the teams that Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and United have lost points to. It is a fair to say that they are all going to continue dropping points over the course of the season.

i also think the league winners could potentially lose a lot of games this season.

however, in saying that, we gotta get our **** together or it wont matter a bit.

I agree, I don't think a team is going to runaway with it this year, for now.. we need to stay in touch.

Beach ball or not we did'nt deserve to get anything from that game.
I have complete faith in Rafa. I just wish the owners would back him. All we needed to really kick on was a bit of investment for two quality signings and we would have been away and gone. Smucks the two of them.:mad:

I do also agree that a lot more points will be dropped this year by the top teams which is great for football.. But i also think that the 2 wins home and away over chelsea and united last year covered over a lot of cracks... Getting 12 points over the big 2 aint gonna happen every year,, Am keeping my fingers crossed rather that being confident this year.. As for the last chelsea game if gerrard is our top player and goes through the match not even touching the ball never mind making an impact on the game there is something wrong... He was out of position and rafa didnt change anything.. Its terrible to say but managers have to react to games aka fergie and jose and unfortunately we were left lacking..

the manager is hopeful of having the twosome available for key fixtures with Lyon and Manchester United next week.

I think they should be all right considering they were having fitness tests yesterday for the game today.

Rafa should of spent 20 mil on a player that was ready for start of season and let go of players that dont want to be there.
