Not really considering it is staggered payments. ;)

Nani and Anderson cost 20 million each????

Hmmm, I thought I had give or take 1 or 2 million in brackets beside that.

If we are talking pounds, no, they didn't cost 20 million. They cost between 15 and 18 million pounds. That would be around 20 million euro when they were signed though.

Similar enough figures to Aquilani still though.

Has he got 10 goals in his entire career?

I don't know. I assume you are trying to make a point with that question? what is it?

Doubt it, since I have already said Liverpool will struggle to qualify for the CL this season.

    Grand so.

Regardless, do we accept that it is 20 million euro so?

    Link???

As far as I know both transfers were UNDISCLOSED

His scoring history hardly supports your theory that we will be more offensive or prolific than midfielders past.

So it could be less depending on conversion rates. Talk about splitting hairs.

1 million pounds is hardly a split hair.

    Anyways.

There is hugh expectations on the lads shoulders, mostly from Scouse fans and I suspect the Smigged one aswell.

If he doesn't hit the ground running, he will be tarred and feathered.

Ah ok, playing that game now are we.

Just so it is clear, no one is to entertain a discussion with Boggles about the transfer fee paid for any player unless the fee paid has been officially disclosed by the buying or selling club.

Forget about Nani and Anderson so.
    Boggles wrote: »

    Indeed Boggles.

However, as he is a more offensive player than Alonso and I guess will be playing a more advanced role in a pretty free scoring team, I hope and expect that he will get more goals or assists than Alonso did during his time at Liverpool, i.e. more than 3 goals as season or more than 5 or 6 assits a season.

You would swear that I was claiming that he is going to be amazing or something.

An open question was raised that seemed to suggest that Liverpool fans expect him to be top class from the minute he starts playing football for us. That isn't the case and I was attempting to explain my expectations for him by comparing him to other players and using clearly defined figures that can be quantified with relative ease.

Ah, and Boggles intentions become clear.

Engage in a hypotetical discussion with someone. Hopefully someone will get wound up without having to resort to silly statments. If they do happen provide facts and a rational argument, partially reply to their posts but ultimately ignore what they say and eventually post an outlandish statement.

I attempted to give you the benefit of the doubt Boggles but once again, you have proven yourself incapable of normal discussion.

The expectations of reasonable Liverpool fans on this forum are a handful or goals and/or assists throughout the course of a season. I think those expectations are reasonable for an Italian that cost 20 million euro playing his first season in the PL.

who the f*ck really cares about the exact transfer fee at this stage. good God.

expectations will be the same regardless - a few goals and a few assists, and be settled in the team as soon as he can. that's what's expected.

anything more than that would be a hugely welcome bonus.

i can't wait to see how he gets on.

To be frank, I care that the transfer fee is being misrepresented. When discusssing football, it is best to stick to the actual facts where possible.

i understand that, but in this instance...

    1) you're not going to get anywhere.

    2) it doesn't affect the point being made - the expectations you have of Aquilani.

I know I won't get anywhere. That is why I have quoted him a number of times so that it is blatantly obvious that he has no interest in the truth.

And no, it doesn't majorly affect the expectations that I have. It needed addressing however as he was misrepresenting the facts of the transfer in an attempt to further re-enforce his point regarding the expectation of Liverpool fans.

In spite of the fact that Chelsea lost today also, the commentator on the stream I am watching has decided Liverpool's title challenge is now definitly over.

I think I'll avoid this thread for a while.

About two years ago they said the same thing about Liverpool after only about 4 games. Farce really.

Good to see normal service of being out of the title race by november has resumed after last years blip.

4 losses after 9 games, not a good start at all.

It ain't looking too healthy either.

Pityful stuff, wrong selections in the middle, no self belief, no guts, no glory.

Hard to not feel like it is over at this early stage.

If the mancs win next week I think it will be.

All frustrations and short-sighted pundit claims aside, we can make this right next week. Beating Man U last season re-ignited this team when everyone had written us off, we can do it again. I believe in Liverpool FC to make this right.

International break really ****ed us over this week, and the early goal made it very tough for us get a handle on the game. Poor performance, and not looking good for our title ambitions. If we don't take maximum points next weekend, we can put it to bed.

Agree. So much rests on the game at Anfield next weekend. If we loose thats it we are out of the title race. A win could reignite everything.

BUT...what happens if Gerrard and Torres get injured again? Same ****?

To be honest ive enough of Voronin/Lucas/Babel. Bring in Pacheco next time he wants to bring on a Voronin or Babel. Give the lad a chance.
