    hello,

we are looking at new kitchens and so far can not find a supplier of duck egg blue or green cabinets in Ireland. I was wondering if anyone has even bought a standard kitchen from B&Q or IKEA and painted it another color? Did it turn out well? I dont want to end up paying a fortune for a cutom made kitchen..

    Thanks!

Hi, I actually painted my kitchen cabinets when I moved in, they were wooden and I painted them cream and sprayed the handles black. That was last February and they look fab. I went to Colortrend and they were great, told me exactly how to do it and gave me everything I needed. It was a lot of work though, took a full week. Had to scrub the presses, then sand, white spirit, then undercoat, sand, and 3 coats with a light sanding in between. But if I can do it anyone can!;)

We have just had our kitchen cabinets painted. We liked the way the kitchen was organised but we wanted something a bit more contemporary than the wooden presses, so instead of replacing the cabinets (many €€€€) we had them painted and we are going to replace worktops, sink and put in new splash backs. So we will in essence have a new kitcen for the grand total of €500. Not too shabby.

Yes you can have them painted no problem , once the correct primer is used and you do the preparation correctly
