But wouldn't the mother have noticed the slope? I notice when I'm standing on a slanted surface

I feel sorry for the driver. The guy/girl shouldn't have been subjected to that.

As I said "Railway platforms aren't meant to have slopes in them".

And "the platform was recently partly resurfaced" - its a minor change, maybe there was other building work and she didn't notice / appreciate the slope.

You can see the two parts of hte platform here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8311289.stm

Wow, first we get a toddler with the IQ of Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein and now we have a baby who seems to be Invincible or maybe he has superhuman endurance. If you ask me I think a new superhuman race of mutants is being born. Now excuse me while I contact my associate Bolivar Trask and tell him we may have to consider building the Sentinels. Oh i'm a geek:(

    only in amer- oh wait.

that station is going to have a serious lawsuit on their hands. thats the australian w- oh wait.

you know the worst part? if someone flushed on of the toilets when the train stopped, that baby was not only run over by a train, but also covered in poo.

That's pretty shocking to watch. The heading is very misleading though, I wouldn't consider that train to be "speeding".

I feel sorry for the mother, she will have to live with this for the rest of her life. Probably going to be extremely over protective of her child which may lead to other problems. :(

    That is one lucky baby.

Sky News keep showing the footage on repeat. I wish they would stop.

God I hate Sky News

THe problem with 24 hours news. They have no clue what to fill the time with. Used to be in old days jounro's had to do research and compile an actual story. Now they just put up someone's mobile camera footage and commentate. **** you not I was watching that time your man attacked Stormont and sky news were all over it. 'Yes Yes Oh MY God and here we see a police dog searching the bushes. Perhaps there is another mental terrorist waiting the pounce. I'm sure th edog can handle him thou. You heard it here first folks - Heroic Dog tackles Terrorist'. Dog emerges from bushes wagging tail gleefully. Probably banged up she-dog.

Hmm u ever been hit at 35kph by a multi-ton object? I imagine it would seem speeding enough.

I gotta say thou - its an awful pity we can't see where the mother is looking cos it looked a bit like she was standing there going 'oh look the pram is rolling...lalalala....OMFG the pram is rolling ARRRGGHHHH'

All this drama could have been avoided if the train driver had swerved to avoid the buggy - I blaim the train driver.

Lucky the child was strapped in the buggy - or he'd of been a goner.

Platforms are generally sloped away from the tracks.

But seeing as this occured in Australia, which is upside down, gravity was reversed and the pram rolled up the hill.

The poor woman. Wouldn't be surprised if she was messed up for a long time about this. I hope she won't be subjected to judgemental attitudes like on this thread...

The possibility of non-judgement is about as likely as the kid surviving in the first place..

and what would we all be saying if the kid had died... we mightn't have been shown the video and i don't think we would be as judgemental, probably just feel sad for the parent... so I guess we should be happy and understand it as an accident

If the platform has been recently resurfaced and that caused the slope toward the tracks, it's possible this woman has been at this station many times before with the pram and been able to let it go without a problem. If you've done something 50 times before without the pram rolling you aren't going to be examining the ground to see if it slopes forward this time.
