"In Life*, there are many hundreds of common experiences, feelings, situations and even objects which we all know and recognize, but for which no words exist.
On the other hand, the world is littererd with thousands of spare words which spend their time doing nothing but loafing about on signposts pointing at places.
Our job, as wee see it, is to get these words down off the signposts and into the mouths of babes and sucklings and so on, where they can start earning their keep in everyday conversation and make a more positive contribution to society. -
    Douglas Adams & John Lloyd

So, are there any everyday experiences which you think are deserving of a name?

I would like to see an entry in the dictionary for a word to describe the range of emotions from fear to hope to jubilation which accompanies the act of making an ATM withdrawal the day before payday - you know, the thoughts that run through your head while you are waiting to hear the whirring of the note counter!

The weird feeling you get when you type your password at the wrong time and see it come up as letters and numbers instead of stars.

    That needs a name.

The satisfying "Whheeeetccccissshh" your hole makes as she eases out a firm stout shiny log into a nice clean commode.

The comforting "Plop" .."thunk" afterwards as she hits the water.

Relief....thats a good word for it surely

    yes indeed:cool:
