Can I prune trees now without harming them

    I have 20 poplar trees in the front of my house that have never been pruned judging by the amount of dead branches/twigs on them, in particular close to ground level. I want to prune this deadwood off them to allow access around them with a lawnmower, and to clean up the appearence of the trees as the dead branches/twigs around their bases are unsightly.

    Can I prune them now or when is the best time of the year to do this job (the leaves are almost gone off them now).

    I would normally wait till colder weather but I doubt if you will cause any harm doing it now.

    yeah yeah, do it now. I've cut them in the summer and they're hard to kill, imo
