Just trying to get an idea of any remaining support for Patrick Bartholomew Ahern.

Personally I hate the b@stard. I can't stand the lying, deceitful blank cheque writing reprehensilbe little man who accepted ten of thousands in cash from a businessman as well as a large house in Drumcondra. All for no reason - mar dhea. These are just some of the established facts to date. Bertieland reeks of corruption, shady deals and cronyism - all dressed up in "I'm one of the lads" rubbish which far too many ignorami are willing to accept at face value. He is not one of "us", and hasn't been since long before the last century ended.

His appointment of that arch unstable sycophant Eoghan Harris - what has he ever done for Irish society? - to Seanad Éireann as a reward for defending him on the Late Late was the ultimate two fingers. Harris is now receiving @ €100,000 in salary and expenses in that pointless institution for doing, well, nothing but ranting and raving. Yes, dear PAYE taxpayer, that is where some of your money is going.

And if Ahern succeeded in his aim to establish an "honours" system in this state you can be absolutely certain that Harris would be something like Lord Harris of Monkstown. Same with Lord Paddy the Plasterer and the rest of them.

What sort of morons in Dublin Central elect Patrick Bartholomew Ahern? And are these people just as thick and morally redundant as those who elect Michael Lowry, Beverely Cooper Flynn and John O'Donoghue?

1 positive option versus 2 negative?

Anyway, he couldnt be any worse then the current lot at least he had the ability to get of office before the brown stuff hit the fan

Rubbish poll! You say you want to find out if there is any remaining support for Ahern yet the only positive poll option is "greatest taoiseach ever" You haven't represented the "I think he's an alright lad" "I think he was a good leader yet ultimately flawed" or the "I don't cares". Pighead thinks your poll is flawed corrupt arrogant and self serving. Just like Bertie.

    You forgot the following option:

Sound *wink* when I had a few quid in my pocket; hateful when he started clawing the money back.

I think you should be referring to him as President Ahern. You might as well get used to it now. Just think. Bertie thought it ok to come on the Late Late and laugh & joke about must of the terrible stuff that he & CJH were upto. We are only 1 year on from when he ran from office. Another 2 years and he will be thinking of himself as squeeky clean again and sadly he will be president if FF nominate him.

I prefer the old-fashioned South American way of dealing with "Presidents" of his calibre.

As a person, Bertie is just a typical Dub, with a touch of the bowsy or rogue.
Now, is this to be admired? As a world leader, I would say NO. As a person, that's a different question.

When he was on form, Ahern could be a magnificent speaker and deliverer of speeches, and when he wasn't on form, usually when rattled, he was a plain gouger and complete embarrassment. It was one or the other with Ahern.

He had so many silly moments and many good moments, but when he was bad, he was bad!

I really went off Ahern when the nascent details about his finances emerged.
When he started using his family, (wife and daughters) as some sort of
tool to garner sympathy; to me, this was low. I know some gullible sods fell
for it, but the man was a top ranking Minister and was trying to make out
    that he was destitute?

I saw him last week on the Late Late, and more of the same waffle and rhetoric he was
    spewing.

I suppose you could use many words to describe Ahern.

Clever, shrewd, cunning, approachable, scheming, manipulative, deceiving, "forgetful,"
short tempered, and at times, illiterate!

    Take your pick...

I'm confounded by the 10 people (so far) who have expressed pro-Bertie feelings. Assuming they aren't joking, and assuming they weren't personally exchanging brown envelopes with Bertie, I think they should be checked out for Stockholm Syndrome.

I think we should kill them. It's 10 less idiots to vote for Bertie as President.

He assisted doing a deal with the religious orders to provide protection against compensation claims made by former children who were physically, emotionally and sexually abused by these orders.

He effectively ran the country on a credit card from 2002-2007 and bloated the public service to get the vote of the Unions.

He told people warning of the impending dangers of government economic policy that they should commit suicide.

He assisted driving some young people in to negative equity by championing house price inflation leaving them with a life of debt straddled around their necks.

He consistently tells lies, among other things, about his own personal finances and when he was minister for finance did not even have a bank account ffs!

He is a lying deceitful snake but some people cannot see through this as the FF cancer is so advanced in their minds.

Never once voted for the man or his colleagues. At every general election I was amazed at how short a memory some people had and how easily bought they were.

Bertie makes lots of promises. Bertie gets elected. Bertie fails on promises. People get angry.
Bertie makes more promises as the next election looms. Bertie gets elected again. Bertie fails on promises. People are angry. He makes more promises as election looms. Bertie gets elected again. Great formula.
After using this formula successfully for a third time (or was there a fourth) Bertie leaves office...shortly after, economic crash. FF voters wonder how this happened.

2012: FF make lots of promises. Enough people get excited to keep them in power...etc etc

I never voted for the man. Nor even FF in local or national elections ( I suppose that goes without saying as I couldnt vote for him personally unless I were in his constituency).

I think I threw a second preference at Brian Crowley, for europe. So thats my entire FF voting record.

Nevertheless, I think Bertie is being held responsible for the bubble by people who were to stupid to realise it was a bubble at the time.

I voted for him for the criac. Someone always trots out the 'I can't believe people voted for X!, line.

You were a pawn in my fiendish plot.....
