Burn fat keep muscle

    Hi, I'm looking for some advice and this seems to be the place to come. I train quite abit (weights at lunch cardio in the evening) but my diet has always let me down till now, things are goin to change...
    Basicily, i'm trying to find the best way to burn fat(mainly around the gut) without sacrificing muscle(everywhere else)in terms of type of training, types of food etc.
    I currently take Whey protein after workouts, Should I stop as I'm trying to lose weight or take more as I'm training harder?
    Also someone recommended Promax diet bars to me a sub for the choco bars I usually feast on, Does anyone else think these are a good idea?

    I'd keep the whey after workouts, but ditch the diet bars, along with the chocolate ones.

    Diet is the biggest factor in losing fat. Clean up your diet. Base your meals on eggs (whole is fine, you don't need to do the egg white thing), oily fish, fresh meat, chicken, lots and lots and lots of green vegetables, some dairy, nuts, seeds, fruit, wholegrains. Cut way back on anything with sugar or refined carbs (this includes almost all cereals that come in a box, as well as all the low fat Weight Watcher type meals). Eat fresh whole food as much as possible.

    Don't get obsessed with calorie counting. If you have a quality protein, a health fat and a green veg in each meal, and you eat when you are hungry, you'll be fine. Something like raw nuts or cottage cheese are good for snacks.

    If you are a chocoaholic, then I recommend a small bar of chili chocolate. Some health food shops have 30g bars of Monazuma chili chocolate. It's 70% cocoa which is enough to be healthy, and the chili is strong enough to stop you munching it mindlessly. Eat slowly and enjoy it.
