There ought to be some info on Springer dew claw removing on this site, a lot of talk about tail docking, but no one has really explained how to do it, I think the dew claw removal is as important, your expert thoughts please. Thank Chew.

I have tail docked all the springer pups I have bred and some litters for others but have never removed the dew claws, I have never had a working springer who got any bother with his dew claws, maybe thats just down to good luck more than anything else, but if I were going to have dew claws removed then I would have them removed when the pup is very young and the dew claws havent had any time to become attached to the bone in the leg which can happen and presents some healing problems in an older dog-as for explaining how to dock a pups tail, this could cause some unwelcome cross-over on the forum;)-which the mods have a huge distaste for:D
