    Hi,

Has anybody done the weeklong course with Oideas Gael? What did ye think of it? Also, is it preferrable to do the cultural course or straight gaeilge one?

I suppose over the years, I did about 10 or 12 weeks with Oideas Gael.
Very enjoyable, well run, good teachers, nice international mix of students,
(don't be surprised if people from Italy or the US have better Irish than you),
late nights, in Biddy's pub or upstairs in Roarty's, skulling pints, chatting up women.
I never did the culture week, heard it's good fun but very busy.
Downside, not a lot of Irish spoken in the village, and people often ask me what part of Donegal, i'm from, when speaking Irish.

So I've read (re: low penetration of irish spoken there) - There's a good report on it here: http://www.westbic.ie/Glencolmcille-English.pdf

Is it preffered to do 2 weeks there, given the course is only one week?

I did a week there this year and last year, also did a weekend course last May. Its a great week, Irish lessons are only half of it, meet loads of strangers and drink everynight. You can go for 1, 2, 3 .... weeks, as many as you like. I met a Canadian lad there this year doing 7 weeks.
