I'm thinking of buying a 2006 or 2007 IS Lexus and I'm just looking for some general advice on the different models. What are the pro's and cons of the each model, should I be going for petrol or diesel?

Sorry I'm fairly clueless when it comes to the specifics of cars.

Not a great car, your money is better off elsewhere.

I know in some models there was a major upgrade of the navigation system.

Not sure about the IS. If there is a picture of the navigation system in the car I will be able to tell you which version (assuming a navigation system fitted.)

I believe the diesel is let down by absurd gearing and the petrols are very thirsty. Small boot and not very specious. If it was me I would go petrol, or buy a 320D.

If you're buying a diesel one try and find a Sport model (dunno if it was available here). It sorted the bad gearing to some extent. 320d would be a much better car, although I do like the look of the higher spec IS's

Very cramped cabin and very poor torc from a 2.2 turbo diesel and a very small boot if you need space
