Advice needed on UK Reg car

    Hi everyone,

I need some advice. I moved to the UK 2 years ago and brought my Irish car with me. I registered it over there with UK plates. I am now back in Ireland and want to get rid of my car. It is originally Irish so think the re-registration should be handy enough. My question is will a dealer take it off my hands? I've been given a 03 car by a family member so need to get rid of this. It's a 99 Yaris. What do you think?

    Thanks for any advice ;)

You have a replacement so just stick your own up on done deal at a decent price and it should sell supposing there's nothing major wrong with it. I'd also advise just putting it through an NCT beforehand - if it had an MOT in the UK it should pass the NCT

You should be able to re-register it with the Irish reg no that was already alocated to it as the VRT was already paid on it here. Ring your local VRT office to clarify.

Thanks for the replies. Thing is I'm out of work and literally don't have the money to even buy new reg plates (if it was just a case of that) or even the €50 (I think) fee for the NCT unfortunately. It has MOT until next Jul but the MOT is far less stringent than the NCT I think...
