Superdrive regurgitating all blank disks

Hi guys, I have an early 2008 MBP. The superdriver reads CDs etc fine, but keeps ejecting blank DVDs after 4-5 seconds. I've tried DVD+R and -R. Here's my hardware:
    Firmware Revision:	AP12
      Interconnect:	ATAPI
Burn Support:	Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
      Cache:	2048 KB
      Reads DVD:	Yes
      CD-Write:	-R, -RW
      DVD-Write:	-R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
      Write Strategies:	CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO
Media:	Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds

Anyone know what the dealio is? This is annoying.

Did you always have this problem? If not, when did it start?

Have a look in System Prefs >CDs & DVDs and make sure "Ask what to do" is selected for blank dvds.

Yes, "Ask what to do" is checked.

I haven't tried burning anything in ages, so I haven't got a clue how long it's been a problem :(

Looks like it could be a known issue: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2801?viewlocale=en_US

Have you tried a few different brands? Your drive might be very fussy. Also try resetting the PRAM as Apple suggests above.

Can you find the make/model of the drive? It's not in what you quoted. I'm guessing it's a matsh1ta though.

My MBP is extremely fussy with DVDRWs. I bought a load of cheap ones from Tesco which it wouldn't accept. It only ever worked with Verbatims. I can't remember it ejecting them though.
