What actual law is broken by use of a FTV card in ROI?

This is different to "what actual law" is broken by obtaining a FTV card for the ROI.


I believe the card carrier says use is prohibited (by who, what law, what penalty?) Oustide of UK, Channel Isles, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland.

Does "penalty" extend beyond disabling the Card?

EU Pay TV law deos not Apply?
:: Not a Pay TV service
:: Not descrambling or decrypting a Pay service
:: Not a Pirate card or Pirate decoder or "patched" Card.

It's a 100% real untampered with Card to recieve a "free" service obtainable in maybe 50% of the country off air.

:: You don't sign anything to get one
:: You arn't asked to agree to anything before it is sent to your UK Postcode address (inc NI).
:: Nothing on the card carrier says you can't subsequently move house without informing someone.
:: No licence agreement is presented on screen with a Yes / No.

What about someone moving from NI or UK mainland to ROI?

Is ROI a special case compared with France or Germany because we are (or were) mentioned on the cardboard card carrier?

Any *REAL* legal knowledge out there?

Not trying to cause trouble or agravate. Just curious.
