Never would have happened had Dublin Bus not been privatised.

    Oh, wait...

Jesus fucking christ. Some people always crawl out of the woodwork to get their agenda across. Disaster capitalism at its finest. Sickening.

Is the tram still there? Curious to know how speedy their emergency plan is. Certainly wasn't very efficient earlier, looked like the public were still inches away an hour after it happened...

It said on the 6 news that a crane was on location to remove bus and Tram!

i was down there around 630pm,the area was taped off and the Guards were managing the situation.
As regards the crash itself ,its hard to see how someone wasnt killed in that, with the luas going right into where the elderly seats are on the bus.
It really was a sad sight to see.
Its no surprise in a sense as the attitude ive encountered from driving and cycling around town is pure aggression and one where people need to learn to actually take a moment..It not just dirvers ,its pedestrians too, endlessly walking out in front of traffic as if they have the right of way..its just one big joke of a culture.

And then there were the endlss amount of people queueing up with their phones wanting to take pictures

    Wasn't very efficient ?

In the aftermath of a crash the priority isn't to sweep up the debris and get everything back to normal. I imagine the Gardai call the shots, cordoning off the scene and bringing in their experts for an examination of the scene.
Only when they are finished, can the site be cleared.

Bit of a rude response, It was just a question mate and i'd assume this would be the place to ask the question. But logically dublin could go into some minor chaos without it, especially on all ireland day.

Im surprised the Luas didnt knock the bus over.

Fingers crossed for the seriously injured.
Saw the accident from further down O'Connell St. Bus rocked side to side quite dramatically but stayed upright. Hell of a bang.

I know ill be slated for saying this but I think is good enough our public transport one things missing is the interconnector, but that argument is for another thread!!

Had heard that it was difficult to knock over a bus but didn't think that it could have survived a direct hit by a tram midships.
Was on a bus recently which ran three red lights in a row. As in lights had turned amber in plenty of time for bus to stop and had hit red as bus entered into junctions. Spoke to driver and rang to report him . Should have followed it up.

there are Alstom lads with spirit levels and .... stuff measuring and checking tracks. If there's damage they'll find it.

It's very hard to tip over a bus... especially a near empty one . Most of the actual weight is carried very low down in the chassis, the actual structure of the bus, especially the upper deck, is very light. Unloaded, even with a medium load, they hav a COG about the same as your average truck.

I supposed if you had a full load of passenger on the top, and got 'em all to run over to one side as the bus was taking a corner, you might be able to make one tip.... Someone out at UCD tried this.... but it'd never tip otherwise.

Both the bus and train obvioulsy couldn't have
    had the right of way.

    You are prob right

Typical Ireland. Ah, sure it was an accident, nobody to blame, sh!t happens.
Well, one was definitely in the wrong and it shouldn't be too hard to
find out who with some proper investigations. You can bet that the Unions on both sides will be briefing both drivers and telling them to say NOTHING...

Stan: Mom, Dad? Theh, they're gonna go help those people, right?
Sharon: I don't know. You know, to me, it seems like the mayor of Beaverton should've done something about that dam years ago.
Randy: Don't blame the mayor, Sharon. What about FEMA? Think this whole thing is really their fault.
Stan: Ye-but, uh, s-somebody's gonna help the people off their, their rooftops, right?
Randy: That's not important right now, son. What's important is figuring out whose fault this is.

As far as I remember it's in the Luas driver's contracts that they won't join a union. Or something similar.

Every bus has a camera on board that records what the driver sees, guess there was an element of "amber gambling" on each driver's part. Hope the injured will be better soon...

Me thinks those affected and badly injured are being cared for now and lets hope they pull through
