I really hope the fatality is a rumour.

Wow this really says something about the safety of Irish transportation systems. What with this and the malahide bridge in the space of one month?!

Just back from town. It looked fairly bad alright. Woman in a shop told me the driver of the bus admitted he went through a red light and the luas driver had to be cut out.

I don't think it's the place for humour

Lack of enforcement of yellow boxes especially with buses needs to be tackled.

The RTE report said the 3 seriously injured were in a 'stable' condition. They've now updated that to remove that line. Strange.

    No. Go away.

Fingers crossed here too for the injured - hopefully everyone got out OK. Interesting to see LUAS themselves are keeping schtum or are just plain slow: http://www.luas.ie/

According to the Irish Times website it was the Luas driver and two female bus passengers who were seriously injured.

Well there were other reports it was the luas broke the lights, I'm sure there will be a full investigation

Does this mean that the taxpayer is gonna have to fork out on repairs and upgrades?

What about the innoculations for teenage girl's and their ovaries??? Damn guverment!

That would probably make more sense it looks like the luas was goin full speed judging by how far into the bus it went. Hope everyone pulls through

    irish times says
The Luas driver and two female bus passengers are understood to have been seriously hurt in the collision and had to be cut out of the wreckage by members of Dublin Fire Brigade.

One eyewitness said the two bus passengers remained trapped on the bus from up to 45 minutes after the crash.

Innoculating teenage girls isn't going to improve women drivers.

Considering the amount of people I'd spoken to by 3.15 who knew about it and had seen pictures, there wasn't really any need for it.

And the whole "front page + big letters" would need someone to re-design the page, or place a new page there with the announcement.

For all we know, they just have a system of inputting updates that appear in the ticker on the side of the front page.

I presume an insurance company will pay for any damages and injuries.

Yeah but how many knew what stop the luas was terminating in town?

In fairness changing one image on the front page shouldn't be a major ask..

Dublin Bus is not insured. They pay claims out of revenue.

Dublin Bus do their own insurance mostly.
They do have insurance but the excess used to be over a million pounds IIRC.
