    hi there

not sure if this is the right place for this question but i'll plough on..

i'm not really familiar with stansted sirport or the layout/size of it. if a flight is due to arrive at 9.25am, will we have enough time to get off, get our luggage, and on to another flight due to leave at 12.15pm?

if anyone that's been through there could advise, it's be greatly appreciated :)

1h 50mins is plenty enough time, especially if its just a connecting flight with the same airline as that means your luggage will be sent on without any collection in Stansted.

Even if you do have to collect your luggage it still should be plenty of time.

    cool, cheers Quazzie.

both flights are with ryanair, do they allow your luggage to go on ahead?

    Not with Ryanair unfortunately.

    See HERE

The good news is that usually airlines operate out of single terminals which means that you will have to collect your baggage from the conveyor system but you shouldn't have to go too far for the next flight

The bad news again is you will have to check in for the second flight a certain timeframe before departure (unless you opt for internet check in).
For international flights this is usually two hours beforehand so maybe 1hr 50mins might not be enough

Where is your second destination. Inside UK or outside UK?

2nd destination is outside the UK, but the flights are subject to online check in so that should save a bit of time.

i didn't have a choice when booking actually, they went to online check in by default. i assumed when you had luggage ryanair made you check in at a desk, but i suppose i just check in online and then drop the bag off at the desk instead.

If you have opted for online check-in then you cannot bring any other baggage other than carry on luggage that are restricted by Ryanair also.

No further changes can be made to passenger names, flight date/times/route once a passenger has checked in online. Also, once a passenger has checked in online other services such as adding a bag, priority boarding, sports equipment etc. cannot be completed online and must be added at the airport or via a call centre (subject to opening hours).

From that I make that if you have additional baggage you will have to check in at the airport two hours before lift off and pay the additional charge.

i didn't opt for online check in though - there was nowhere to select or deselect it....!!!!!

i clicked that i wanted to bring 1 piece of luggage, and when i got the confirmation e-mail, it said that i could check in online between 15 days and 4 hours prior to departure. nowhere on the booking process after i clicked on the baggage did it say that i couldn't use online check in

No, you still check in online, you just drop your bag at their bag drop desks...

Well then normal check in might still apply to you. My advice would be to ring Ryanair on 0818 30 30 30 - (National rate) and ask them about it.

Looking at their website the normal check in gates are open from 2hrs to 40mins before lift off so that'd mean your 1hr 50min stopover would be adequate. Best to ring Ryanair just to confirm.

I wasn't sure about that. The wording is a bit off but what you say does make sense.

ok, well first off it's option 9 on their automated system to get to talk to an acutal ''human'' :pac:

i can check in online, then just bring my boarding pass to the check-in desk in the airport to drop off my bag, as long as i've paid for it in advance at the time of booking. otherwise the charge for the bag is doubled!! the guy reckoned that it would be tough going within the time, but as long as the flight arriving to stansted is on time it should be ok. i said ''well the flight to stansted is with yourselves'' to which he replied ''ah well, our flights are always on time, madam''

    thanks again.

Just a couple of days ago I went through a packed Istanbul airport with a guy in a wheelchair, which meant we were off the plane a good 20 minutes after everyone else and still made our connecting flight 50 minutes after arrival. That was also after arriving 10 minutes late. Now granted it was tight and we were nearly running through the airport but we made it. I think 1hr 50min in Stansted should be plenty. I know you have to recheck bags and all but I'm pretty sure even with a slight delay on Ryanairs behalf you could still do it.

    P.S enjoy the holiday ;)
