    White Sands national monument (and missile range...), New Mexico, USA.

    The sand is actually fine gypsum powder and is unique to this location. Its nice in that it doesn't retain heat so you can walk on it barefoot in blazing sunshine without burning your feet :)

    There really is a whole lot of nothing there, but its quite beautiful. Its about 275 square miles in size, 40 or so of which are available to the public. The rest is used by the military.

    I went up the volcanic hills in Tenerife early one morning and caught the sun rising. Unfortunately, I'd left my DSLR in Ireland, hence the crap image quality (it's already been through noise reduction and various photoshop tweaks).

    Cheers. She's actually reasonably small for a retreiver. Was taken with a Sigma 18-125mm. It looks like that because of the low angle it was taken at.
