Decent and cheapish speakers with optial input?

Thinking of buying a new set of speakers for the PC/Xbox. Was going to be happy with a cheapish set of logtech 2.1-5.1.

At the moment i have the optical audio on my xbox running out to an external soundcard (creative audigy nx) which feeds the xbox audio to my desktop speakers via the PC. I was thinking if i got a set of speakers with an optical in I won't need to have the pc turned on all the time and will free up a plug socket with the external sound card.

Any suggestions? No more than a 100 euros price..maybe a tall order

How about this? I've got the same speakers for my laptop. They do the job and they're a nice price.

Do they have optical input?
Dosen't seem to be listed on the description~:

No worrie's...i might just buy a set of logitechs and use the external soundcard..funny thing is my old sony seperate system from 10 years back had optical in and out, woulda thought that it would be standard by now

Thats because your sony system supported the failed format of MD, which is in my opinion still the best portable digital recording device you can find, I still use one to record when im djing live and want to record.....

A lot of the more recent 5.1 surround systems you see in the likes of Harvey Norman or Currys are bringing back the optical inputs for the likes of the 360 and Ps3, a lot of them only had composite (red/white) inputs for a few years, odd I know but at least they are coming back..... slowly but surely

Its very hard to even find a toslink cable in half of these shops!

Did'nt know about MD interesting....I could actually root that sony system out of me old room in the ancestral home and see if it's still working but it's just too fecking big.

Logitech X-230 2.1, 2 Satellites and Subwoofer, 32W RMS

I don't think it has optical, but if you're on a tight budget you're going not going to notice optical if it's coming out of cheap(er) speakers.

I was going to get those logitechs in Peats today but I picked up these in maplins for 50 yoyos instead, decent sound so far
