Same bunch of people regardless of which bush was in charge and i dont see how an attack on american soil is any different to an attack by america on someone elses soil. Are americans worth more in your eyes than middle easterners?

I think the question was initially put whether George Bush attacked America, or not. He would generally be more unpopular if he attacked America. So Americans would be worth more in his eyes. Thats his job.

ok. take this fact,which i read on the front page of the new york times in october of that year, about the 5 dancing israelis and the subsequent arrest by police of another group of israelis by holland bridge.

thats true, alright. It was reported on the day in fact ( I was in America at the time) but it was reported as a group of happy Middle Easterners in the area. More Panic.

then it disappeared down the memory hole. That does not prove mossad involvement ( well unlss Osama is a mossad agent), however I think that it is possible that Mossad knew something about the potential attack but did not pass it on. Or rather they did pass on a very cryptic message in August about a potential attack. To cover their asses.

The dancing Israelis were mossad agents, as far as I know.

I'd wager they knew beforehand that it was a busy day with those precise flights being paticularly useful for strategic reasons (right area, right amount of passengers, all taking off in the same hour or so). More logistic than symbolic.

true.
the 5 dancing israelis,2 or 3 of whom were proved to be mossad ,does not prove mossad carried out the attacks.
the israelis arrested at holland tunnel,also mossad with box cutters false passports in their possesion,and a sniffer dog reacted in the van as if explosives had been there.
again this does not prove mossad involvement in the attacks.
that the removal company 'urban removal systems', (the vans in which both groups were apprehended ),received half a million dollars that year in federal funding ,does not prove complicity with mossad.
unfortunately the israelis who were caught and the owner of the removal firm were released and sent back to israel so we never got their sides of the story...
....we're just left with the bare facts.

I'd have to say that I always thought that the fact that 9/11 would be naturally symbolic as an attack on the emergency services would have been a reason for choosing a different day. It would have been quite possible that there would be upgraded security in the background like there is for Christmas Day, 4th of July, etc. I'm surprised they didn't delay it to a different day. No point taking any unnecessary risks with an operation like that.

Btw, off thread, can anyone confirm/refute whether the D-Day landings were specifically planned for Rommel's wife's birthday in the hope (justified) that he would be in Germany rather than in France?

Only a few days in each month were suitable for launching the operation, because both a full moon and a spring tide were required: the former to illuminate navigational landmarks for the crews of aircraft, gliders and landing craft, and the latter to provide the deepest possible water to help safe navigation over defensive obstacles placed by the Germans in the surf on the seaward approaches to the beaches.

The weather was also important, there was a gap in a storm that they reckoned the Germans would not know about.
