    First, get the thermal resistances of the water in the pipe and the surrounding medium. You will need to add those resistances to the pipe resistance.

    Where the thermal resistance of the cylinder is given by:

    R = ln(r2-r1)/2.pi.L.k

    Where:

    r2 = outer radius of pipe
    r1 = inner radius
    L = length of pipe
    k = thermal conductivity of pipe

    Once you get the total resistance, invert this figure to get the heat loss in Watts
