And my guess is for Orange, though I'd love to see Purple...

It's just a card, how much quality are you looking for

One that doesn't fade away during the course of a college year.

why do you care whether it fades away or not? I bet you can look after a card so it doesn't fade, my one is in good nick.

How about some nice solid colour rather than the pathetic radial gradient, better IQ for the photo, some relevant info such as course and DOB instead of this Buncheim **** and a less intricate version of the college crest

All valid points. It's a pity moaning about it on boards isn't gonna change it

I have this notion to propose myself as class rep next year. My electoral speech would be something along the lines of "Once I'm elected, I will do absolutely fuck all to improve your college life. I hope that my honesty is enough to secure your vote". I'd really rather have someone that blatantly does nothing rather than pretending to be in any way potent.

Yeah, I'm regretting the fact that I didn't get a hoody with a slogan.

Maybe they should take it to the SU?

    I'd try student records.

You think its bad now, only a few years ago it had a scanned photograph of the college crest on it, rather than the proper digitised version now. It was a fuzzy and looked terrible. however if they dumbed-down the crest on the card to a more modern one, you'd have traditionalists complaining.

Relevant information? I don't see what more needs to be on it to be quite honest. No one in the college that would inspect your card needs to know your date of birth or indeed what course you're in, so its not on it. Anyone who does has access to student records. It prevents abuses of the card and makes the production of forgeries less likely.

I do think a nicer design could be created, but then this is just a student card. The simple colour scheme makes it easy to change from year to year and makes inspection easier. If you don't hang around late in college it doesn't even get that much use. Library, exams and open doors, that's all its used for.

So if you're a 2nd year and not due a new photo, is it the same as last year except they put the old photo on the new card?

How does one even know they're due a new photo? And people told me we were to be stuck with that terrible photo for the rest of our pleasant stay at Trinity... Curse 'em! ¬.¬

I think (from what I read on Boards last summer) that you get a new picture in 3rd year.

The beauty of having a coat of arms is that there are myriad ways you can represent the exact same armorial bearings while still complying with the traditional blazon. It annoys me that there are so many different versions of the arms carelessly used in College literature; it wouldn't take much effort to implement a standard version of the arms for general use that looks fresh and definitive but still follows the traditional design.

(BTW, a crest is technically just something sitting on top of the shield in a coat of arms.)
