Unless they are closing ITV3 or ITV4 it won't make much difference to the quality of TV available from ITV.

Wonder if UTV or STV will provide a Plus1 service.

    1) Whats the point ?
    2) Are there going to be 15 odd regions of "ITV1+1"

ITV are woefully down on advertising revenue, they hope a +1 will up viewing figures (as they have in the past with ITV2-4 +1's) and allow them to gain more revenue from this (as all adverts are shown twice as much). Let's face it, advertising revenue is ITV's bread and butter. ITV2+1 is apparantly more popular than many of the other mainstream digital-only channels.

IIRC ITV2 is the most popular digital-only channel in the UK.

    Probably not, from http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/index.php/itv-to-launch-itv11-channel
ITV1+1 will not be available in Scotland, Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands as they are under separate agreement.

Yeah I noticed that, I see that GMTV +1 won't be running on ITV +1

ITV do not own or run GMTV.

They own 75% of GMTV with Disney  controlling the other 25%. But you think they could have done a deal.

That is interesting as speculation has been rife all around the net that ITV were strongly thinking of scrambling and becoming under the sky umbrella(ITV 2,3.4)not 1.

wonder if they may still scramble on the sky platform, but remain FTA on freesat?

they seem to be in so much financial sh1t they are running around like headless chickens!

i have often wondered why BBC1/2 has never added a +1?

    anybody know why?

There are so many replaction of programming on spin off channels their is not much point having a +1 service. As I have pointed out +1 doesn't really help since if you missed something an hour before or you highly likely to miss it again an hour later. e.g. some one tells you that something was on last night at 7 that you missed a plus 1 channel is pretty pointless to you, rather a +1day channel is much more benefical not only do you get to see what you missed yesterday but it vastly improves choice from a +1hour perspective.

Of course all channels have OnDemand service which puts +1s into question anyway.

    With the amount of repeats on BBC 1, 2, 3 and 4, ITV1, 2, 3 and 4 and c4, e4, film4 there isn't much need for a plus one. Film Four +1day is a better option IMO.

actually Elmo i think the idea of a +1 day for channels is an EXCELLENT idea(especially for people on rotating shiftwork,i know many would say well their is options to sky+ it,but many cant be bothered or want any more expense)

oh i am in the R.O.I so without using a proxy or some gizmo we dont get most of the UK stations players.

disagree about the +1 channels though,i have often checked the epg when i could finally sit in front of a TV and do a casual whats on flip.
a movie that is on that i am in the mood for may,be started 25 mins or so the +1 i can wait for:)

I think the BBC have avoid them due to the fact that they would only be available on FreeSat, Sky or Cable which would rule out their remit of allowing all viewers in the UK access to BBC channels on FreeView.

How can you scramble something on Sky which would be FTA on an FTA receiver.

They can use the postcode to determine which ITV+1 you can receive on the Sky EPG.

Although it isn't the same, the version of Channel 5 on Sky Digital in the United Kingdom is scrambled and another one on Freesat is FTA.
