New High end (Electric) Guitar

Hi. I've recently come into a bit of money

and have decided to get myself a proper high end guitar. I tought i knew what i wanted but looking around has made the decision pretty hard.

I play Rythm and lead and mostly mid speed songs if this can help you guys.

My top two choices would be a fender Mustange or a Gibson Les Paul GT but i wanna know the opinions of musiclands guitarists.

So what do you think?

Alot of different stuff.

AC/DC (Alot), Muse, Kings of leon, Sytem of a down, Hendrix, Ozzy. Alot of the heavier bands but i do play alot of indie and that but i mainly do that on the acoustic so kinda null and void in this instance.

Hop over to London for a few days, there's a street full of guitar shops called Denmark Street, near Oxford Street. I'm not a guitar player but it looks like every make and model is available there and you can possibly play them as well.

That could work would possibly be a bit cheaper too. I'll keep that in mind london isnt a big deal to go to. Cheers

Bacchus Duke. Search ebay, you'll get a lot of guitar for the cash, although they are expensive, probably in the region of 1400

Hmm... judging by that I'd say a Gibson SG would suit.

There was a great one on Adverts a while back, not sure if it's still there.

dont go near any of the Gibson GT guitars. If you are gona buy gibson...i highly recommend the 61 Reissue Gibson SG. i have one and its the nicest guitar i've ever played..slim neck..powerfull pick ups..can be used for any style guitar..great for blues/rock/metal...and has a lovely warm tone through clear channel...sounds better than a les paul and its only €1350..

You can get a nice used SG standard on adverts.ie for about €800 (plenty of choice in colours!) and a faded special is up there for €450! Fuppin' win!

From the music you listed, a Fender Mustang - no matter how sexy they are - is not the guitar for the job. I agree with everyone else - you're a Gibson man.

From my own experience a good ol' Les Paul Standard is the way to go. I've had a clatter of 'Heavy Guitars', Jacksons, Ibanez, Suped up strats - but the Les Paul just blows them out of the water. You can get everything: mellow Jazz, Blues and out and out Rock. It's worth taking a look at some older models the new ones tend to feel a little...new and all are weight relieved/chambered. Good luck with the search! It's one of the best things about being a guitarist!
