    That's what they all say. . . .

So if you're a 2nd year and not due a new photo, is it the same as last year except they put the old photo on the new card? How successful would begging for a new photo be? (Not vain, photo is god-awful, I look like some sort of victim on crack, I'm also a lovely dark grey colour. Nobody says 'Ahh it's grand' Everyone admits it's terrible and laughs)

Yep, you can ask for a new photo, I don't know anyone who was refused.

Oh! And if you happen to have a yellow strip due to whatever reason on your card, a rubber can be used to correct this error.

Don't use nail polish remover (based on experience).

Shows you're under 18; means you can't get served in the Pav (on the rare occasions that they actually ask for student ID) but I think that's about it.

Nopw just to clarify something. Everyone has a small yellow strip under their photo which says undergraduate. The yellow stip going accross the whole card idicates that you are under 18. I used an ink rubber to take it off.

My friend knew about the yellow line rule, but thought it was any yellow line on the card. She worked in a shop in first year and someone who she sort of knew from our course came in to buy alcohol. The shop has a strict id policy and he showed her his TCD card, knowing she was a TCD student, and would know about the yellow line rule. She saw a yellow line under his photo and refused to serve him.

    I hadn't even noticed that :)

Lets go with green this year.

I'm gonna say a dark blue that fades into the middle like last year's red did.

Tenner bets that staff cards will be white this year.

Black would be cool. With a fading black in the middle

Wouldn't work well with the text IMO.

Fair point. Forget the fading part

I'd love black.. But I'd say green is probably the best bet.. Or some ghastly yellow

How about cards with D.O.B on them.

I'm gonna go for grey, although I'd love orange, for non sectarian reasons of course

Seconded. The yellow line thing is nonsensical.

I'm guessing trinity envisions complications arising with fake tcd IDs, or people "losing" them to a younger sibling etc.

Well no student cards are accepted officially as Proof of Age so I don't see where the complication would arise with Trinity?

I'm going to guess orange though it might not be sufficiently different from the current card. Its been a while since orange too (2004/5).

    2001 - Silver
    2002 - Green
    2003 - Blue
    2004 - Orange
    2005 - Pink
    2006 - Green
    2007 - Blue
    2008 - Red
    2009 - ?????

Why does it have to be one colour, why not putting down an entire rainbow?
I was thinking of something like this:
    picture.php?albumid=729&pictureid=3769:D
