Mary Couglan (singer, not TD) was on TV3's Midday today, as a guest...

She admitting breast feeding other people's kids in the past.

"it’s probably really uncool to say it but all those years ago, I have met children whom I have breastfed, that weren’t my own. I’m not talking on a regular basis... Maybe there is a bit of a taboo around it now, but yes I did breast feed other people’s babies and certainly my two eldest girls were breast fed by other people on occasion.”

I'd read about it in an article somewhere before. Apparently it helps babies buid up immunities other that just the mother's.

All that milk going to waste on babies... You could probably make a lovely cappuchino! :eek:

It's not so long ago that wet-nurses were employed in houses of the wealthy to breast-feed young babies. Some nurse maids also took this duty as well as normal nurse maid duties.

Today wet-nurses are mostly employed for other reasons.
