Leaving car standing - what to do with fuel tank?

    I've an 1986 E30 that I've restored to sell and am going putting it on the road now to make sure all ok so I'm going taxing it for three months and transferring my insurance from my daily car to the bmw till I sell it.

    My question is on my daily I've left it parked up with the reserve light on but I've read that the fuel tank should be full to stop condensation building up in the tank.....but I only hope to have it off the road 4 to 6 weeks max so is there any need to fill mine? I will also start and move my daily once a week or so.

    If it's a modern car just leave it be. 4 to 6 weeks is nothing really. I wouldn't advise starting it and moving it, unless you take it for a good drive each time because this will do more than harm than good.

    Thats what I read too, totally full or presumably totally empty (which isnt going to happen). Put in some Wryns Dry Fuel before you go driving it properly again. Starting it for short periods sounds like excessive wear on parts that wont heat up in time.

    What about a battery trickle charger?
