Audible Seat Belt Warning

Here's one for the legal boffins:

AFAIK there's a law that requires there to be some sort of audible warning in a new car - that if someone is in one of the front seats of a car and isn't wearing their seatbelt the car will "bing" or buzz.

I can't for the life of me Google where that law is.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Here's some American legislation, don't know if it's of any use to you though :

Well in 2008 EuroNCAP awarded the Dacia Sendero 0 points for seatbelt reminder. Presumably this means that the the car does not have any seatbelt reminder and therfore it is not a legal requirement in the EU.

There's no legislation on it yet. See here for background info.

I think this should be taken one step further and immobilize the car until the seat belt in buckled, I have a sister who would never wear her seat belt only for this beebing thing.

I have a new car and it has this warning. A very good idea imo.

Most people who want to get around it would just plug the passenger belt into the driver's belt socket.
