Not sure if it's all that accurate. I just put my car reg in and it says it's had four owners. I'm only the second owner.

this is cowans car isnt it? :P

EDIT: search doesnt come up....i put in 09 D 1

    Great!

After finding this thread, I pinched in my cars, delighted to get the positive reports. "Smile all around! "Other websites charge for similar info.no?

I tried same as you with 09-D-1, haha.

I suppose I would believe now, all their assets are not disclosed in "Democratic/ Republic " country...

What do you (anyone) comment on this?

just done a 1 star check on cartell on a 1985 renault 9 1.4 petrol but cartell says its a diesel , all these sites have terms and conditions and cant guarantee the info 100%

I think some people may have a misunderstanding of the term "write-off" - it may be the case that you were told it was written-off when in actuality, it wasn't.

That is unless, you sent in the logbook for scapping to Shannon yourself.

I was looking at this BMW on carzone.ie.....

    Capture-7.jpg

    Untitled-4.jpg

    hmm.... guess I'll look elsewhere....

I just checked it out becasue the advert said that a 525 had a 2.4l engine....

A written off, imported, E39 Taxi, that is in fact a E60?....

I'd have my suspicions about the accuracy of that info. Might be worth following up before you walk away, provided you were interested.

Come to think of it, I think it's pretty dangerous to be putting this info out in the wild if you can't verify it's accuracy. If that was my Beemer and customers were being scared away by inaccurate information on this site I'd be well annoyed!

Cartell reporting it as an E39 too. Perhaps it was an E39 which was written off, and the nunber re-assigned to an imported E60 recently? Then again, the E39 finished in 03 didn't it?

great site though dont like the way it warns "caution" on my car for the simple reason it was imported.

ah well not to worry have all documentation to show full service history and only 1 previous owner.

Pretty sure there are 2004 e39 models about. Could it have been a screw up when it was registered over here?

Happy days, nice find OP. I bought a cartell report last year and while I found it usefull, I did grit my teeth handing over the 40euro.

    yep, tried that :)

NCT Due Date: Feb 2010, in the add: NCT March 2011

Is that Green though? looks like some shade of gray ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,518 ✭✭✭✭dudara

There is a greyish-greenish BMW shade, although I would have said that was gray.

i tried a few cars and they came up perfect.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,857 ✭✭✭Duckjob

Tried it with my car history there....Seems pretty accurate.

It correctly reported an old car of mine (that got totalled, not my fault) as Scrapped: YES, Written Off: NO which I guess is right because I only had 3rd Party ins at the time, so no question of the Ins Company having to pay out, they wouldn't have done assessment etc.

One thing I've noticed in comparing it to a Cartell report I got last year on my car is it doesn't show whether there is finance owing or not, which is very important.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,309 ✭✭✭VolvoMan

I just checked it out becasue the advert said that a 525 had a 2.4l engine....

That's another flaw with the new Carzone website. If you enter the engine capacity of a car in an advertisement it will display it as 100cc less.

The Lord Mayor didn't start getting the first Dublin registration of every year until 1990.

Well one thing I notice straight away is that the tail lamps are off the older pre-facelift model, suggesting that it might have previously been in an accident.

Any car I've checked out seems to ba all accurate so far although the inconsistencies pointed out here are somewhat worrying

Are you sure that's a flaw? Car manufacturers tend to round the figure up, perhaps cartell just rounds down. My Forester 2.5, for example, is 2457cc.

Thanks for that, the pre 87s are working for me now too.

It's like the free cartell all over again! See this thread

I ran the plate of a boy racer car which is black but was originally white. It says no change of colour

Change of color only would be there, if it was reported to the VRO. If it still says white in the report and change of color: no, then it's just not been reported, that the color has been changed.

that is true but it is also true the other info would only be there if it was reported to the various databases where they get their info. Are people not obliged to report change of colour to local authority car tax office or is that now VRO? I wonder do they get info from NCT cos mine is wrong

    Anyone tried contacting them?

Isn't there a section on the VLC that you fill in and send off if the colour has changed?
