Just a note to say I'll be expecting to see you lot at BULBS (All will be revealed by Mossin soon enough). There is an unusually high amount of new people posting this year compared to previous years. Only 10 and a half hours now 'til you find out if you're in:D

    :pac:

    Too true
    But in fairness.
    It could have been worse.
Never have we to do that again!

To keep on track, just looking through the Orientation timetable there which looks all well and good [i'm a total geek for things like this] but I was wondering from current/former UL-ers how long does the Course Meeting go on for roughly?
    It's of the utmost importance!

And to new UL-ers like myself, the second day looks to be good craic, doesn't it?!

Course meeting can go on for up to an hour and a half, but in most cases it'll be over in less than 45 minutes.

We put an awful lot of effort into day 2 this year. Patricia Moriarty the University Arts Officer has put an awful lot of work into improving on last year.

    Cheers!
I'm presuming the Course Meeting is rather important?

No it looks really good. Just reading through the description there.
Will it be other students demonstrating/running all the events?
    How was it last year?!

And is that effectively the beginning of Freshers or does only officially begin come Monday?

Excuse me for the questions overload.
Taking some herbal tea to calm me down a bit.
    No bulmers in the fridge.

If you want a timetable it would be fairly important to attend the course meeting.

Effectively it's the beggining of college. It's good to enjoy a week without class.

It will be other students demonstrating etc...

Sorry for being slightly off topic but realistically, how much time have you for extra-curricular stuff; clubs, societies etc? There's a few that I would like to give a bash at but I'm doing engineering and I hear the hours are pretty massive.

Day 2 does look pretty class alright. Can't wait now!

The hours for engineering are not that bad, it's perceived to be much harder and with longer hours than it actually has. You'll have loads of time for other stuff believe me.

Make sure you go to tutorials, they're much more important and relevant than lectures imo, it's where you'll cover all the material that comes up on the exams* whereas some of the lectures can be fairly pointless and irrelevant. That's my opinion anyway.

    *Sorry for mentioning exams already:D

Where do ya find the number of places for your course?

And good morning to any fellow business studies students:)

    Congrats!

I did a bit of a search on www.qualifax.ie and it should give the number of course places.

Strange it doesn't have the box below alternative entry like applied languages does?

Anyone know how many for BBS this year?

I'm a UL Electronic Engineering graduate. Was there from 2000 - 2004. We had close to 39 hours of lectures, labs and tutorials per week. But your nights and evenings are always free. Once you get the head down and do a bit of work outside of class you'll be fine and have plenty of time for extra-curricular activities. Word of warning though, there is an awful lot of extra-curricular stuff to do in UL. Sometimes it's easy to forget you're there for an education and not solely to have fun! :D

I'm jealous of all you rookies. I'd love to be starting my course all over again. Best 4 years of my life.
