Read all about it in today's papers.

The fcukers go through your bag and rifle it before they put it on the carousel.

Welcome to Dublin Airport. The scummiest Airport in the world.

    Wasn't it only 1 person?

And afaik it's rare in Ireland, compared to most other places

It's only one person who has been identified, no doubt some more are involved but in fairness I'm sure the vast majority don't. It's also the sort of thing which happens all over the world.

I reckon that I am too trusting and naive.
Always felt I could check my bag in safely.
sorry to say it is news to me and its gotten me angry.

Well TSA will. You can get TSA locks that they wont cut. At that point if something goes missing from your luggage, you know where to send the Bill.

    What's wrong with that?

This may hold the odours of the knickers in which may be detrimental in the long run. It could provide a more satisfactory knicker sniffing experience.

I actually saw one of those shrink-wrap machines in Tenerife airport. This doesn't come as a shock to me...always knew I was taking pot-luck checking baggage through. It happens everywhere.

    Jen ;->

    Overreaction galore here.
ONE person was found to be do it and now you're tarring all their employees with the same brush? And you're acting like Dublin Airport is the only Airport that has had this happen. My uncle was in Nigeria back in the 90s and 7 employees were caught doing this so they took them out the back and shot them!

Why do Irish people have to go for the doomsday scenario everytime a piece of news comes out? I honestly think that if an Irish person was given the choice to Destroy the Earth or free Crunchies for everyone on the planet, they'd choose Destroy the Earth just so they'd have something to give out about down the pub.

Would that be the pub on Moon-base 1, the earth having been obliterated and all, thanks to the Irish not being forthcoming with the Crunchies?

By then, China will have fixed thrusters to the bottom of it's landmass and will have taken off into space. The Irish left will be the small population of Irish pub owners in China.

Could you link to a recent article where more than one was found to be stealing?

I often wondered is there anything to stop a bagage handler in a foreign country placing a package of drugs in a random bag before loading onto airplane. This guy then calls his friend in dublin bagage handling and tells him which bag it is in. Dublin handler then gets the drugs out. Im sure it would be possible for an airport worker to get drugs out of the airport without detection. In fact I worked at Dublin airport on building sites and we were mixing with passengers in the airbridges airside and we always went home without any security checks. We were also allowed walk around the scanners instead of through them when passing from landside to airside. This was before 911 though so maybe workers are checked thoroughly now.

Coming home from philadelphia a sat-nav was taken from our suitcase. Brand new, was buried down the bottom wrapped in a towel so they clearly took their time searching through the suitcase! Not definite this was dublin, could have been philadelphia airport either.

Sure even the guys doing the final security check before you get on the plane will go as far as to pat you down looking for your drugs. Get your own damn drugs you plick!
