why is it so difficult to get decent unleaded lager in pubs?
im off the beer at the moment and have taken a shine to erdinger blue label but its near impossible to get it. i went into a pub on the quays last week with my two brothers and asked the barman what N/A he had and the cheeky wanker said 'tap water', then becks.
went to another pub and they only had becks as well so in the end i had a pint of heineken that was poxy and ended up only drinking a quarter of it.
it seems that pubs dont want non drinkers on their premises

    What's wrong with Becks?
Never found it a problem to get non-alcohol lager in pubs.. but Erdinger might just be a hard one to get hold of?

    Prefer Cobra 0% myself

Coke fills you up too much. I like the taste of beer but don't like feeling drunk or sick and often drive as well.

2 cokes (to make up a pint) cost over €1 more than an erdinger. €5.20 v €4 or so. And you can't drink coke alnight, gets horrible and leaves a layer on your teeth after one or two.

Ahh, reminds me of the teenage years when we gave somebody non-alcoholic beer and told him it was some new kind of import. We then watched him progressively get drunker through the night :)

i was working as a barman down in waterford during my first year in college.
my first night was typically thrown in the deep end.. shown my area of the bar to get through.
got on grand, at the end of the night one of the other bar staff was giving me a hand cleaning up behind the bar.
while looking at the shelves that i was serving off, he passed a comment something like 'jeez you sold some amount of non alcoholic becks tonight i rarely sell one..'
to which i replied whats a non- alcoholic becks??

didn't realize there was a difference, in hindsight i saved some lad a hangover the next morning :)

That's alright then. If you had said that you were lost in the outback and needed to drink your own piss to survive I wouldn't have believed you anyway!

Out of curiosity, can under 18's buy non alcohol lager? I saw it in Lidl the other day and couldn't help but wonder.

    I'm 18 anyway, but I was curious.
    Lager tastes like piss anyway.

Well it is very unusual to see cans in pubs.

In my local a pint of coke would be €8.40

If you don't see the point of N/A beer, then whats the point of coke?

Probably not because afaik, becks NA is actually 0.3% vol

Indeed, Coke in most pubs is a complete and utter rip off, tiny glass bottles of the stuff. Why cant they just sell the plastic 500ml bottles in the shops?

Sure I read somewhere in a pub it's at the owner's discretion.. wouldn't be surprised in a shop though if you have to be over 18, as there's a very very small amount of alcohol in them

The first time I tried to get served in an off license I got non-alcoholic beer. I was 15 and so worried about getting served that I just grabbed it without looking properly.

Non alcoholic beer is like eating your sister's pussy. I tastes the same but it just isn't right.
